One Great Season

NEW YORK -- Welcome to One Great Season, a new site dedicated to all things college football. This site was launched with the upcoming season in mind, and was 15 years in the making.

Back in June 1994, as I was finishing college, I compiled a list of what I thought were going to be the biggest games of the upcoming college football season and sent letters to the athletic departments of all the host schools requesting media access. I said if I didn't get a job before my birthday -- July 30 -- I'd set out to drive around the country and write a book about America's greatest sport. Not knowing what my address would be after my sublet ended on Aug. 1, I asked those athletic departments to mail all correspondence to my mother's address in Cleveland.

Well, I got a job before my birthday, but schools were still sending media guides -- and credentials -- to mom's house. And it was two days after Kordell Stewart's incredible Hail Mary pass to Michael Westbrook on the game's final play that lifted Colorado to a stunning upset win at Michigan that my mom called to say I could have had two all-access passes to that game.

Fifteen years later, my schedule is now flexible enough to go out and seek sponsorships for this project. If I can raise the money, I'll hit the road for four straight months and finish what I started in 1994. If you're wondering how you can help, please:
