All day a huge throng of over 1,000 people waited in a queue — like kids sleeping overnight in line for concert tickets — at Court 12 just to see Serena and Venus play their first-round doubles match. That's where they were scheduled to take on the team of Juie Ditty (USA) and Renata Voracova (CZE).

I just happened to have taken a seat in Court 5's stands, expecting a men's singles match, when the whole little stadium area place started to go nuts. Tournament directors had switched the court assignments last minute, and so the people in line over on #12 got SCREWED (royally screwed, one might say) and we lucky ones at #5 inherited the world's top-ranked ladies doubles team.
