College Football Preview: 5 Things That Won't Happen In 2010
One Great Season
You've read the five things that will happen in college football this season. Now here are a few guarantees of things that won't happen in 2010.
1. The talk about Joe Paterno's age or health will not end.
2. Jeremiah Masoli won't be a backup for long. Mississippi coach Houston Nutt knew his decision to bring in the former Oregon star would be controversial, so why keep him on the bench?
3. The Heisman Trophy winner won't come from Alabama. Trent Richardson is a great stablemate for 2009 winner Mark Ingram, but not great enough to win the honor himself. He'll steal enough stats from Ingram to keep him from becoming a two-time winner.
4. Boise State won't play for the national championship. Alabama and Ohio State look primed to march through undefeated seasons, which would keep the Broncos — aiming for another perfect record themselves — shut out of the title game.
5. North Carolina won't live up to the billing. The Tar Heels' defense has NFL talent all over the field, but an NCAA investigation has UNC's season falling apart before it can even begin.
