College Football Notebook: Terrelle Pryor Can't Stop Talking About Women

Picture Of James Rodgers

By JOHN P. WISE
One Great Season

Lots to get to in today's College Football Notebook, so let's dive right in.

+ Hours after Oregon State wideout James Rodgers suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Beavers' upset at No. 9 Arizona, Oregon linebacker Casey Matthews shared some kind words on Twitter: "Praying for @J_Rodgers8 and hoping everything is alright with his knee ... Hell of a player and person!!!" You can follow Mattews at @CaseyMatthews55.

+ Many fans remember Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III and his impressive freshman season in 2008. And after an injury kept him sidelined in 2009, many of those people have kind of forgotten about him. But the Bears' offensive leader this season has thrown 13 touchdown passes, eight of which have covered 40 or more yards. Overall, his scoring strikes have covered an average of 45 yards. Griffin also has rushed for six touchdowns as Baylor has opened with a 4-2 record (1-1 Big 12).

+ Wyoming will get a much-deserved break after its game against Utah Saturday. The Cowboys will close the season with games against five unranked teams. Wyoming has lost to then-No. 5 Texas, No. 3 Boise State and No. 5 TCU so far in the season's first half. And the Utes bring their 5-0 record and No. 10 ranking to Laramie this weekend.

But before you feel sorry for the Cowboys, consider the case of 1-5 San Jose State, losers to then-No. 1 Alabama, No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 13 Utah and No. 21 Nevada. All of those losses have come on the road by a combined score of 166-33. Next up for the Spartans? A home date with No. 2 Boise State on Saturday.

+ Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor was in "ESPN: The Magazine" for the second straight edition, and just like he did two weeks ago, he talked about the lovely ladies of Columbus. In "The Body Issue" currently on newsstands, he tells Kenny Mayne, in the "Mayne Street" section, that he doesn't have a girlfriend. "I'm so focused on the demands of being a quarterback that I don't have time. Women will always be around." I think what he meant was, "Women are always around," and that it's impossible to just settle on one.

+ AOL FanHouse writer John Walters had a good line on Twitter after the rankings came out Sunday: "'They haven't played anybody' is usually code for 'They don't play in my favorite team's conference.'" You can follow John at @jdubs88.
