College Football Conference Rankings: Week 7

Picture Of LSU Auburn

One Great Season

Some are excited to call the PAC 10 the best conference in college football. There are definitely some good teams in that league, but as long as we keep saying a one-loss SEC team will still have a chance to play for the national championship, then it will be No. 1 in my book. And don't forget the small fact that the SEC has won the last four national titles.

Here are the conference rankings heading into Week 7's games:

  1. SEC: Auburn and LSU are still unbeaten, but Alabama, South Carolina and Arkansas all still have a chance to do something special.

  2. PAC 10: Oregon is the best team in the country, but after 12 games will most likely be the league's only candidate to play in a BCS game in January.

  3. Big 12: It would be great for the sport to see old rivals Oklahoma and Nebraska take 12-0 records into the conference championship game, with a spot in the national title game at stake.

  4. Big 10: The league lacks a true marquee win, but if Ohio State can survive spaced-out road tests at Wisconsin and Iowa, that should be enough to send the Buckeyes to another championship game.

  5. ACC: Florida State is the class of the Atlantic Division, and despite its embarrassing start, Virginia Tech appears to be regaining form and should claim the Coastal.

  6. MWC: No. 4 TCU should get by Air Force on Oct. 23, but mark Nov. 6 on your calendar. The Horned Frogs play at No. 10 Utah; winner takes a BCS at-large bid.
