One Great Season

Welcome to the month of March, and welcome also to a new feature here on OGS called "March Madness Notebook." Each day through the NCAA Championship Game on April 4 we'll be dropping some bullet-pointed nuggets to help you navigate the best month of the year.

Ready? Good, let's get started:

Top Four Seeds
+ EAST — Ohio State: The Buckeyes will be the tournament's overall No. 1 seed.
+ SOUTHEAST — Duke: This could be a toss-up between the Devils and Pittsburgh by the time Selection Sunday rolls around on March 13.
+ SOUTHWEST — Kansas: Bill Self's squad might be the team that best matches up with Ohio State.
+ WEST — BYU: Would be great to see the Cougars make a Butlerian run this year.

On The Bubble
+ Baylor — Two wins over Texas A&M are nice, but the Bears need at least one more resume triumph. Tilts at Oklahoma State tonight and vs. Texas this weekend are great opportunities.

Work To Do
+ Alabama — The Tide suffered a bevy of bad losses before New Year's, but had won nine of 10 and 14 of 16 until a weekend loss at Ole Miss. A road win at Florida tonight would do wonders for 'Bama's resume.

Today's Top Read
+ Pat Forde breaks down February and looks ahead to a few of the top remaining regular-season games.

What To Watch Tonight
+ Vanderbilt at Kentucky, ESPN, 9 p.m.

Your Tournament Video Of The Day
Western Kentucky's Ty Rogers drains a three-pointer at the buzzer to beat Drake in a 2008 first-round game in St. Petersburg, Fla.
